The Teaching Academy
The Teaching Academy is a forum based on a Nordic model that aims to promote pedagogical development and improved teaching methods. The main goal of the Teaching Academy is to strengthen dialogue about teaching and pedagogical development within and between universities, as well as to reward academic staff who excel in teaching.
The Teaching Academy is established with the support and encouragement of the Ministry of Education in Iceland with the involvement of all the public universities in Iceland.

Ceremony for new members
Fourteen outstanding university teachers were admitted to the Teaching Academy of the Public Universities in a special ceremony in Litla Torg in UI, Friday 3 November.
The first 11 members of the Teaching Academy were admitted in 2021, a total of nine in 2022, and now fourteen university teachers have joined.

Application process for the year 2023 is now over
The Teaching Academy’s application process for the year 2023 is now over and the evaluation process will go on until new members are admitted in the fall. Those who are interested in applying next year are encouraged to watch a recording from the Teaching Academy’s introduction meeting in December 2022 (English version).
The Teaching Academy 's rotating conference
The Teaching Academy’s first conference on university teaching was held in May 2022. This year’s conference was held on Friday 26 May at 10:00-16:00 at Veröld – House of Vigdís. The conference was hosted in cooperation with the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, University of Iceland.
