The Teaching Academy with Margrét Sigrún Sigurðardóttir and Róbert H. Haraldsson
Here you can listen to a podcast episode about the Teaching Academy from the UI Centre of Teaching and Learning ‘s podcast, Kennsluvarpið. (The podcast is in Icelandic)
In this episode, Íris Björk Eysteinsdóttir discusses the Teaching Academy with Margrét Sigrún Sigurðardóttir, associate professor at the Faculty of Business Administration, at the University of Iceland, and Róbert H. Haraldsson, director of the Division of the Academic Affairs.
Margrét Sigrún was, from the very beginning, a part of the conversation about the establishment of a Teaching Academy, but stepped out of it as soon as she decided to apply for membership in the Academy herself in 2021. She describes the application process, what steps need to be taken and what teachers can gain from becoming a part of the Academy. Róbert describes the criteria teachers need to meet if they are interested in applying, and how a seat in the Academy is supposed to reward those teachers that already lead the way in teaching.
Those who are interested, are also encouraged to listen to other episodes of the podcast. However, most of them are in Icelandic, except for the one where Sean Michael Scully, a member of the Teaching Academy ‘s board, discusses different ways of motivating students.
